    Former Olympic softballer, Stacey Porter, 23 of Stanhope Gardens is the 2005 Blacktown City Sportsperson of the Year, it was announced by the Mayor of Blacktown, Councillor Leo Kelly, OAM at the 2005 Blacktown City Sports Awards Gala Presentation at Rooty Hill RSL, last Friday night, February 23, 2006.

  • 27/02/2006 Western Sydney Marathon to be held in 2006

    A plan to hold a new Western Sydney based Marathon in the winter of 2006 has been announced. The Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Leo Kelly, and General Manager of Westlink M7, Mr Flan Cleary, operators of the Westlink M7 Motorway, today announced that they would be working together to plan the introduction of the new marathon.

    Launch: 4.30pm, Thursday, April 6, 2006 – Eastern Creek Raceway. Investa Property Group will launch ‘Torque’ at Turn 4 - their plans for the construction of the tourism, retail, industrial and automotive industry area within the Motor Sport Parkland. It is anticipated Investa Property Group will commence construction on this in November, 2006.
