Ice Hockey
History
The Blacktown Ice Hockey club has been one of the most successful clubs in Australia to date. In the last 15 years it has produced numerous National Senior team players, as well as captains, and national youth and junior team players. The Blacktown Flyers have been producing the best junior players in NSW for a long time now and over the past 10 years while other clubs have struggled to compete with the Blacktown kids. One of the biggest reasons that the Blacktown Flyers have been successful is due to skating skills; the kids get out on the ice as much as possible and skate skate skate! Ice Hockey is not the brutal sport that the media sometimes portrays to parents and fans, in the two competitions for the Blacktown Centenary Games there is actually no contact at all. Full contact begins when all the kids reach 14 years and older.
