WESTERN SYDNEY ACADEMY OF SPORT
Blacktown City Council is proud to support the Western Sydney Academy of Sport, an independent, not-for-profit organisation providing quality high performance training programs for talented young athletes in Western Sydney. The Academy catchment area covers 1,800 square kilometres and includes 10 Local Government Areas in Western Sydney, including Blacktown City.
The Academy provides scholarships to athletes generally between the ages of 13 and 18 for a 12 month period during which time the athlete is provided with various technical and educational development opportunities that assist in the transition to elite level sport.
HIGH PERFORMANCE TRAINING PROGRAMS
The Western Sydney Academy of Sport is responsible for identifying, developing and implementing quality opportunities for the development of talented young female and male athletes across a range of sports.
Current sport programs include:
- Golf
- Netball
- Slalom Canoe
- Lawn Bowls
- Rugby League
- Softball
- Tennis
Please note that new sport programs may be added as opportunities arise.
The Academy's high performance training programs have established benchmarks in standards and value in the officially recognised development pathway for talented athletes. These quality endorsed programs include technical and educational components, and are delivered by accredited coaching resources and professional providers.
